These cookies have so many names! As a kid, I used to call them moose turds and the kids at my school would always laugh. I mean, any kid would laugh if you said "do you want a moose turd". I still do. HA!
But I have also seen them called moose poop cookies, bear s**t cookies (I'm making this a kid friendly recipe haha), or just your every day poop cookie and we all know why these cookies were gifted with this wonderful name.
However, anyone who has been given the chance to eat one of these wonderful treats knows, that once you eat one, you will be eating at least 4 more.
But, one more thing. These cookies are generally made just with chocolate, but I spiced these ones up with Nutella. I am telling you, the Nutella is a wonderful addition to these cookies and instead of 4 cookies, be prepared to eat 25.

Makes About: 25 Medium Sized Cookies
Takes About: 1 Hour
Difficulty: 1 out of 5 (perfect for kids to do with the family!)
Prep:
Have an area on your counter cleared off and a large piece or parchment paper laid out on the clean counter. You can also add some parchment paper to a few baking sheets as well.
Ingredients:
8 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1/4 cup cocoa unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
6 large spoonful's of Nutella (or about 1 cup)
2 1/2 - 3 cups quick active oats
Ingredients:
- Step 1 - Prepare Before you Bake
Be sure to prepare all your ingredients before making these cookies.
For example, add the 3 cups of oats to a bowl and in a separate bowl, add the 6 large spoonful's of Nutella (about 1 cup of Nutella), in another separate bowl, add the 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract and then set everything off to the side for easy access.
Also, gather a wooden spoon (or a spatula) and a large normal spoon.
You want to make sure that you do prepare these bowls before you start the cookie mix because when it comes time, all of these things need to be added quickly.
- Step 2 - Start Your Cookie Mix
In a large pot, add 8 tablespoons of unsalted butter, 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar, 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 teaspoon salt and place on medium low heat mixing constantly.
The butter will melt and everything will become one consistency and smooth, however, continue to mix constantly.
Keep mixing until the mixture comes to a boil and then boil for at least 1 minute - still mixing continuously.
Big thing here - don't stop mixing.
- Step 3 - Add the Remaining Ingredients
After the minute of boiling, pull the mixture off the heat and add all the ingredients you set aside - the Nutella, the vanilla extract, and 3/4 of the oats.
Using the wooden spoon (or spatula), mix everything together until well combined.
If the mixture still seems really wet, add the remaining oats and mix.
- Step 4 - Spoon the Cookies
Using the large regular spoon, scoop some of the batter out of the pan and place the dollops on the parchment paper. (These will not look pretty. That is okay, they are not supposed to be pretty.)
Keep scooping spoonful's of the batter onto the parchment paper (about an inch apart) until all the batter has been used.
- Step 5 - Let Cool
Let the cookies sit for about an hour or until completely set and no longer wet or sticky.
- Step 6 - Enjoy!!!
I am telling you, if you have never had these cookies, you should definitely make them. Because why not?

Hope you enjoy!!!
And if you don't, you can just give them to me.
