A healthy breakfast, a great snack, the perfect side dish for dinner. A dish that is well known in France, but actually originated in Germany. This quiche is flavorful and the broccoli adds a great crunch.

Makes: 1 Quiche

Takes about: 1 hour and 30 minutes

Difficulty: 1.5 out of 5

Prep:

Prep the dough, which you can find the recipe here.

- This will take about an hour and if making one quiche, make only half the dough recipe.

Once the dough is ready, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and start the filling.

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 medium onion - diced

2 cloves of garlic - chopped

4 cups broccoli - chopped

1 cup heavy whipping cream

4 large eggs

3/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon pepper

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon paprika

Large pinch of nutmeg

3/4 cup cheese - or more if desired

Instructions:

- Step 1 - Cook the Onions

Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large pan on low-medium heat.

Add 1 diced medium onion and cook until they start to turn translucent - about 6 months.

- Step 2 - Add the garlic

After the onions are translucent, chop 2 cloves of garlic, add them into the onions, and cook for about a minutes.

- Step 3 - Add the Broccoli

Chop 4 cups of broccoli into small/medium pieces and add them into the pan.

Cover and cook the broccoli on medium-low heat until it starts to soften and the colors becomes a little brighter - about 6 -10 minutes.

Do not overcook the broccoli because it will also have time to cook in the oven.

As the broccoli cooks, start on the next steps.

- Step 4 - Make the Pie Shell

Roll out prepped dough.

Once the dough has been rolled out, pick up the dough carefully and lay it over a pie shell.

Press the dough down into the shell carefully until it is tucked in nicely and pressed against the edges.

Trim the extra dough off the edge.

Decorate the edge if you like, no requirement.

Set aside until needed.

- Step 5 - Make the Cream Filling

In a large bowl, mix 1 cup of heavy whipping cream, 4 large eggs, 3/4 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of pepper, 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon of paprika, and a large pinch of nutmeg until well mixed together.

- Step 6 - Add the Filling into the Pie

Add the broccoli mixture into the pie shell.

Add the cream into the pie shell, pouring over the top of the broccoli.

It is alright if the broccoli is not completely covered.

- Step 7 - Add the Cheese

Grate 3/4 cup of cheese straight on top of the quiche filling.

- Step 8 - Bake

Bake the quiche in the preheated oven for 40-50 minutes or until baked all the way through.

The bottom needs to be be baked, so the longer the better.

- Step 9 - Enjoy

Eat the quiche hot, warm, or cold. No matter what, it is pretty delicious.

Reheating

If reheating a quiche, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F, cover the quiche with tinfoil, and bake for 15 minutes or until warmed through.

This recipe was located on "Clean Eats, Fast Feets" and I changed a few things, but kept the core pieces of this recipe.
